Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has congratulated the Black Stars of Ghana for securing qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking the country’s fifth appearance at football’s biggest global tournament.
In a Facebook post celebrating the team’s achievement, Dr. Bawumia wrote: “It’s FIFA World Cup number 5! Congratulations to the Black Stars for qualifying Ghana to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. We are Ghana! We are coming!”
Ghana’s qualification adds to previous appearances in 2006 (Germany), 2010 (South Africa), 2014 (Brazil) and 2022 (Qatar), cementing the Black Stars’ reputation as one of Africa’s football powerhouses.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, promises to feature an expanded format, giving more nations the chance to compete for football’s most coveted trophy.
