Scores of parents and students crowded the GNAT Hall in Accra on Monday, October 13, one of the designated school placement resolution centres, to address difficulties with Senior High School (SHS) placements.
The number of visitors to the centre has surged as the final window for resolving placement issues draws to a close before first-year students officially report to school on October 18.
Reports from the scene indicate that many parents have been visiting the centre repeatedly since the placement exercise began.
While some managed to have their issues resolved, others continue to wait in long queues for assistance.
One of the parents, identified as Charity Atanga, said she was frustrated because her daughter had been placed at Akuse Senior High School as a day student despite the family living at Teshie.
She explained that she wanted the placement changed to a boarding option and mentioned that she had even sent her secretary to follow up two weeks earlier but had yet to receive any feedback.
Another parent also noted that their issue had still not been resolved, which was why they had returned to the centre.
Education authorities have meanwhile appealed to parents to remain calm and patient, assuring them that officers are working diligently to resolve all outstanding placement challenges before the reporting deadline.
