Media must stop promoting only NPP and NDC – Solomon Owusu

A member of the Movement for Change Communications Team, Solomon Owusu, has urged journalists in Ghana to refrain from creating the impression that only two political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) exist in the country.

Speaking to Happyghana.com ahead of the official launch of the Movement’s new political party on Thursday, October 16, 2026, Mr. Owusu expressed concern that the Ghanaian media has consistently projected the NPP and NDC as the only relevant political forces in national discussions.

According to him, most media houses and journalists only engage members of the two dominant parties when national issues arise, leaving other political parties out of important conversations.

“The media is the main reason Ghanaians believe we only have the NPP and NDC. Whenever there’s an issue of national interest, journalists only invite members from these two parties to speak. But every political party has the right to share its views and contribute to national dialogue,” he said.

Mr. Owusu stressed that all political parties should be given equal opportunities to present their ideas and policies to the public, allowing Ghanaians to make informed decisions during elections.

He therefore called on journalists and media organizations to be fair and balanced in their coverage by giving all political parties a platform to share their visions for the country, rather than focusing solely on the NPP and NDC.
