Fiifi Decker questions purpose of Alan Kyerematen’s United Party

Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Team, Fiifi Decker, has expressed shock and disbelief over the decision by former Trade Minister, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, to form a new political party.

His reaction follows the official launch of Alan Kyerematen’s new party, the United Party, on October 17, 2025, which he described as a movement to end divisiveness, acrimony, and rancor in Ghanaian politics.

Speaking in an interview on Happy 98.9FM’s Epa Hoa Daben show with Bismark Brown, Fiifi Decker questioned the rationale behind the establishment of the United Party, raising doubts about its structure and legitimacy.

According to him, the locations of its head office and constituency offices remain unknown, adding that he did not understand how the party even secured a license.

“We don’t even know where the head office or constituency offices of this so-called party are located. How did he even secure a license?” he asked.

Mr. Decker further argued that Alan’s political influence has waned, pointing out that during the 2024 general elections, even Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar), who was relatively new to politics, garnered more votes than Alan.

He suggested that some observers believe Alan’s new party is intended to frustrate the NPP in the upcoming general elections rather than offer a genuine political alternative.

Fiifi Decker advised Alan Kyerematen to have remained resilient within the NPP, citing Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s perseverance despite facing challenges during his early political years.

“Alan should have developed a tough skin instead of leaving the NPP. President Akufo-Addo faced worse challenges but never broke away to form a new party,” he stated.
