The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has accused the Attorney General and the Judiciary of collusion and bias, alleging that their conduct is undermining public confidence in Ghana’s justice system.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Mr. Kodua Frimpong criticised what he described as the government’s “shameful disregard for due process,” claiming that Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine often uses the media to pronounce individuals guilty before they appear in court.

“When a person is accused of a crime, the law requires that they be arraigned before a court and presumed innocent until proven guilty. But the Attorney General prefers to go to the media and pronounce an accused person guilty,” he stated.

He cited the case of Kwesi Botchway Jnr., a young man reportedly threatened with contempt by a sitting judge for publicly commenting on a pending case, and questioned why similar standards are not applied to the Attorney General.

“We have a young gentleman, Kwesi Botchway Jnr., who made some statements, and a sitting judge threatened to cite him for contempt. However, Dr. Dominic Ayine makes prejudicial statements, yet our judges remain silent. Indeed, the Animal Farm is working under the administration of John Dramani Mahama,” Mr. Kodua remarked.

He noted that the actions of the Attorney General, coupled with the perceived inaction of the Judiciary, have created an uneven playing field that continues to erode public trust in the nation’s justice system.
