Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has underscored the immense potential of Ghana’s oil palm industry to create thousands of sustainable jobs and transform rural livelihoods, describing it as a key driver of inclusive economic growth.

In a Facebook post, the Ministry of Finance shared details of Dr. Forson’s working visit to the Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) at Adum Abanso in the Western Region, where he commended the management, smallholder farmers, and workers of the company for their contribution to Ghana’s agricultural and industrial development.

Dr. Forson praised BOPP as a shining example of how strategic investment in economic crops like oil palm can generate large-scale employment and stimulate local economies.

“Benso Oil Palm Plantation is a perfect example of how strategic investment in oil palm can create thousands of jobs and transform lives. The dedication and professionalism I witnessed here give me great confidence that renewed investment in this sector is worth every effort,” he stated.

The Finance Minister also revealed that the government is finalising a comprehensive Oil Palm Plantation Policy to boost production, strengthen value chains, and create thousands of new jobs nationwide.

He further lauded BOPP’s inclusive business model that integrates smallholder farmers into its value chain, noting that it aligns perfectly with the government’s vision of making agriculture the foundation for Ghana’s next phase of growth and job creation.
