Telecel Ghana emerged as the most decorated telecom operator at the 7th National Technology and Communications Awards (NTCAs), securing nine wins across leadership, customer experience, technology, marketing and social impact categories.

The telecommunications company’s wins included major competitive categories such as Best Broadband Service Provider, Outstanding Telecom Customer Support Experience, Best Mobile Money Service Provider, Best Campaign for its high performing ‘More Money’ Promo, and Marketing Team of the Year.

In leadership recognitions, Telecel Ghana’s CEO, Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai was named Telecom CEO of the Year, while Dr. Joyce Koi-Akrofi received the Technology Mentor of the Year honour, cementing the company’s leadership influence in the telecommunications sector.

Telecel Foundation also won the Beyond Connectivity Award for its Red Hearts employee volunteering programme, reflecting its broader investment in social impact, which one of its flagship initiatives, DigiTech Academy, a nationwide digital skills training programme in schools, earned the award for Social Contribution Through Technology.

Speaking after the event, Ing. Obo-Nai, who was also featured on the cover of the Digital Future Magazine by the organisers, said the recognition affirms the telco’s strategy of pairing operational excellence with social purpose. “This portfolio of awards only validates the hard work our teams are putting into shaping a customer-focused telecom business that values innovation and social impact. These awards show that the industry recognises both our performance and our purpose.”

Established in 2018, the National Technology and Communications Awards have become one of Ghana’s recognition benchmarks, spotlighting digital innovation, service excellence and social impact across industries. The event, held at the Accra Marriott Hotel, convened captains in the technology and communications industries as well as leaders in government, regulatory sector and international relations among others.

Speaking on behalf of the presidency in a keynote on the theme ‘AI-Powered Future: Innovation, Transformation & Impact in Ghana’s Digital Economy,’ deputy chief of staff, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo said the future of development will be driven by individuals and businesses who evolve to meet the changing times. “As government works to position Ghana as a hub of innovation and technology through a number of policy initiatives, we imagine a future where artificial intelligence and humans work hand in hand to build a sustainable country.”

Telecel Ghana’s nine-award sweep comes at a pivotal moment as the telco is deepening investments in network upgrades, digital customer experience, and youth-focused community programmes as part of its post-rebrand growth agenda.

Rita Rockson, Head of Foundation, Sustainability and External Communications, said the recognition of Telecel Foundation’s community-facing initiatives speaks to their deep-seated impact. “The DigiTech Academy and our Red Hearts programme reflect our devotion to expanding digital literacy, strengthening inclusion and building resilience in communities. I believe what these awards demonstrate is that corporate social investment, when done intentionally, drives real value for society and for business.”

Telecel’s strong performance across both technical and social categories at the NTCAs also illustrate a dual strategy of enhancing service delivery while positioning the brand as a community-minded telecom operator.
