The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoako-Hene, has announced government’s plan to collaborate with private tertiary institutions to help graduates secure employment and reduce youth unemployment across the country.

According to him, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and the practical demands of the job market by equipping students with hands-on skills relevant to industry needs.

Delivering the Minister’s remarks on his behalf, the Municipal Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong, Ben Abdalla Alhassan, emphasized the need for tertiary institutions to shift focus from overly theoretical studies to more technical and practical training that promotes employability and entrepreneurship.

He made the remarks at the 3rd Graduation Ceremony of Wisconsin International University College in Kumasi, where he urged private universities to design academic programmes that align with Ghana’s human resource and economic development priorities.

Meanwhile, the Bosomtwe District Chief Executive, Eng. Abdalla Hamid, revealed that the Assembly is also exploring partnerships with private tertiary institutions within the district to expand access to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for Senior High School students.

According to him, such collaborations will strengthen Ghana’s technical education base and ensure that young people are better prepared to contribute meaningfully to national development.
