The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of two young residents of Kasoa who lost their lives in Wednesday’s tragic stampede at the El-Wak Military Sports Facility in Accra.
The El-Wak stampede occurred on Wednesday, November 12, during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise, resulting in six confirmed deaths and 34 injuries, according to Acting Defence Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor revealed that Kasoa recorded two casualties in the incident, describing the deceased as young, ambitious individuals who aspired to serve and contribute meaningfully to our country through military service.
“This tragic event is truly heartbreaking. Who would have thought that a day filled with hope and dreams of serving our nation would end in such pain and loss?,” she wrote.
Naa Koryoo extended her condolences to the bereaved families and offered prayers for comfort and strength during this period of grief.
“My deepest condolences go out to the bereaved families. May the Almighty grant you strength and comfort in this difficult time, and may the souls of the departed rest peacefully in His eternal care,” she added.
