A group of concerned royals and citizens from Kwahu Pepease in the Kwahu East District have intensified calls for the enforcement of a ruling by the National House of Chiefs, aimed at resolving a decade-long chieftaincy dispute that has hindered peace and development in the area.

At a press conference held in Accra, Professor Emmanuel Oduro Owusu, Oheneba of the Pepease Santaase Bretuo Royal Family, expressed deep concern over the prolonged leadership vacuum following the passing of his father, Nana Ampadu Kyere II, the immediate past Chief of Kwahu Pepease and Kyedomhene of the Kwahu Traditional Area.

“My father initiated several developmental projects in Pepease before his demise. These were meant to be continued by his successor, but the unresolved succession dispute has stalled progress and created division among our people,” Professor Owusu stated.

He cited numerous examples of stalled initiatives and community setbacks, attributing them to the ongoing chieftaincy conflict that has persisted for over ten years.

Members of the Pepease Ahenenananom and Ahenemma, who were present at the press conference, echoed similar sentiments. They lamented the town’s regression in infrastructure, social cohesion, and economic activity, and urged the government to intervene swiftly to prevent further unrest.

“Pepease is suffering. The dispute has robbed us of unity and development. We need peace, and we need it now,” one member passionately declared.

The group called on relevant authorities to enforce the ruling of the National House of Chiefs and restore traditional leadership in the area, emphasizing that only through resolution can Kwahu Pepease reclaim its path toward progress.
