Unemployed Trained Teachers allege “secret” GES recruitment, announce mega protest

The Coalition of Unemployed Trained Teachers (CUTT), made up of 2023 graduates, has raised concern over alleged “secret” recruitment of teachers by the Ghana Education Service (GES).

In a statement, the group said it has received multiple reports suggesting that some individuals, including Members of Parliament (MPs), District Chief Executives (DCEs), and Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs), are influencing the recruitment process for personal gain.

According to CUTT, these claims point to appointment letters allegedly being secured for selected individuals based on political connections or in exchange for favours, a development they say threatens the integrity and fairness of GES recruitment procedures.

“We emphasize that these allegations, if true, undermine the principles of transparency and fairness that have historically guided GES recruitment processes,” the group stated.

CUTT is calling on anyone with credible information to provide details to support ongoing efforts to gather evidence and engage relevant stakeholders.

The coalition also announced plans to stage a mega demonstration to demand transparency and the commencement of the official recruitment process.

The group is urging its members to notify their parents, guardians, and families to join the protest, which they say will continue at the Jubilee House until their concerns are addressed.

“Further announcements concerning the date for the mega demonstration and media engagement shall be made in due course,” the statement added.

CUTT reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights of its members and pledged to take all necessary actions to ensure a fair recruitment process.
