Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has expressed the government’s deep appreciation to officers and men of Ghana’s security services for their sacrifices and commitment to keeping the country safe.

Addressing personnel drawn from the various security agencies at the Elwak stadium after a joint route march, the Interior Minister acknowledged the personal sacrifices made by officers, including long hours of duty, loss of sleep and time away from their families, in the discharge of their responsibilities.

“On behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, I want to thank each and every one of you for the sacrifices you continue to make to ensure that our citizens feel safe and our country remains secure,” he said.

Mr Mohammed-Mubarak noted that despite challenges encountered during the year, including the loss of security personnel in the line of duty, Ghana had largely remained peaceful and stable.

He described the year as generally successful for the security services, adding that the government remains grateful to God for the protection granted to the nation.

The Interior Minister expressed optimism that the coming year would be even better, urging officers and men of the security services to remain steadfast in their duties as they continue to safeguard the country.

The joint route march brought together personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Customs Division and the Ghana Prisons Service, underscoring inter-agency cooperation and solidarity.
