The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is expected to commission a new Passport Application Centre in Dambai in the Oti Region on Monday, December 29, 2025, as part of government efforts to expand access to passport services across the country.

The commissioning ceremony will be led by President John Dramani Mahama, with the Oti Regional Minister, John Kwadwo Gyapong, also expected to be in attendance. The new centre is aimed at reducing travel burdens for applicants in the region and improving efficiency in passport acquisition.

According to details provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Dambai Passport Application Centre will operate on a 24-hour basis and promises passport delivery within 15 days. The facility will also offer reduced application fees, courier delivery services and an electronic tracking system to allow applicants monitor the progress of their applications. The centre is designed to be fully compliant with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.

The initiative forms part of the government’s broader agenda to decentralise passport services, enhance security, and improve customer experience in line with digitalisation reforms within the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Applicants can access the service through the official portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at passport.mfa.gov.gh.

This development follows earlier rollouts of Passport Application Centres across selected regions as part of ongoing reforms at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
