Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Johnson Asiama, has paid glowing tribute to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, describing his leadership as a pillar of stability and wisdom in Ghana’s national development.

Dr Asiama made the remarks when the Asantehene paid a courtesy call on him at the Bank Square in Accra on Wednesday, March 7. Although largely ceremonial, the visit was viewed as strengthening dialogue between traditional leadership and the country’s economic managers.

Addressing the Asantehene, the BoG Governor noted that Ghana has, over the years, benefitted immensely from Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s distinctive style of leadership, which he described as quiet, steady, and deeply rooted in wisdom.

He observed that during periods of national tension, the Asantehene consistently demonstrates that true authority is not exercised through noise or spectacle, but through balance, restraint, and moral clarity.

According to Dr Asiama, this instinct for stability has ensured that, the Asantehene’s voice remains relevant beyond matters of chieftaincy and social cohesion, extending into broader national discourse on development, discipline, and progress.

“Otumfuo, Ghana has long benefitted from your brand of leadership quiet, steady, and deeply anchored in wisdom. In moments of national tension, you have reminded us that authority is not exercised through noise or fuss, but through balance, restraint, and moral clarity.

“That instinct for stability has made your voice relevant, not only in matters of chieftaincy and social cohesion, but also in the broader national conversation on development, discipline, and progress,” he stated.
