PRESEC condemns comments by Serwaa Amihere, describes claims as false and offensive

The Management of Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon, has condemned comments attributed to lawyer and media personality, Serwaa Amihere in which she allegedly described the school as “a breeding ground for homosexuals.”

In a statement, the school described the remarks as false, reckless, and deeply offensive, stressing that they amount to an irresponsible generalisation that undermines the integrity of the institution.

According to management, the comments seek to attach an unwarranted stigma to a school with a long-standing reputation for discipline, excellence, and moral formation.

PRESEC emphasized that it is a Presbyterian mission institution founded and governed on firm Christian values and has, for over eight decades, focused on academic excellence, character development, leadership, and moral upbringing in line with the doctrines of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and the laws of the Republic of Ghana.

The statement noted that any assertion suggesting otherwise is a gross misrepresentation of the school’s identity and principles.

Management further highlighted the school’s record of achievements, describing PRESEC as one of Ghana’s leading secondary institutions with a history of producing men of character who serve with distinction across academia, public service, science, business, faith, and civic life.

It cited the school’s sustained academic successes, including repeated victories in the National Science and Maths Quiz, as evidence of a culture built on intellectual rigour, discipline, teamwork, and responsible leadership.

The school warned that statements of this nature are not only inaccurate but harmful, as they expose students to ridicule, prejudice, and emotional harm while attempting to damage the hard-earned reputation of the institution.

PRESEC expressed gratitude to parents, alumni, students, and the general public for their continued confidence and support, and assured stakeholders of its commitment to upholding its values, protecting the dignity of students, and maintaining high standards of excellence and character formation.

The statement emphasized that management remains focused on the school’s core mandate of delivering quality education, enforcing discipline, shaping character, and preparing young men to become principled leaders and responsible citizens.
