The Member of Parliament for the Kumawu Constituency, Ernest Yaw Anim, has expressed deep sorrow over a tragic accident that occurred on Friday, January 17, 2026, involving a construction truck transporting sand from Abotanso to a project site.

In a statement released on Sunday, January 18, the truck crashed into a hairdressing container shop and a storey building, resulting in the death of four people and leaving five others in critical condition.

Mr. Anim said he visited both the accident scene and the hospital on the morning of January 18 to personally assess the situation and engage with victims and affected families.

He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished those injured a speedy and full recovery, noting that his thoughts and prayers remain with all those impacted by the incident.

Assuring victims’ families of his support, the Kumawu legislator pledged his unwavering commitment to assist them through the difficult period. He also appealed to the government, benevolent individuals, corporate organizations, faith-based institutions, and the general public to contribute towards supporting the affected families.

Mr. Anim stressed that assistance could come in various forms, including financial support, medical care, and emotional encouragement, adding that every contribution would make a meaningful difference.

He further called for unity and compassion, urging the community to stand together in solidarity.

The MP said he would continue to work closely with traditional authorities, local leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure that the victims and their families receive the necessary support as the community navigates the challenging moment together.
