The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted seventeen police officers in recognition of their exceptional professionalism and dedication to duty.

The promotions were effected on Monday, January 27, 2026, following the officers’ outstanding roles in separate security operations across the country.

According to the Ghana Police Service, some of the promoted officers were part of an operation in the Volta Region that led to the interception of ten wrapped slabs of substances suspected to be cocaine, with an estimated street value of GH¢1,032,650.00.

The operation also resulted in the seizure of several sacks of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.

In a separate operation at Jacobu, other officers distinguished themselves during a routine patrol that led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, and eight live AAA ammunition.

Congratulating the officers, the IGP, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), commended them for upholding the core values of the Ghana Police Service, including discipline, courage, and professionalism.

Mr. Yohuno urged the promoted officers to regard their elevation as a call to greater responsibility and renewed commitment to service.

He further encouraged all personnel of the Service to continue working diligently, assuring them that excellence, integrity, and professionalism remain the key criteria for recognition and promotion within the Ghana Police Service.
