The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has rejected claims that his Ministry has taken over the recruitment process of the security services, insisting that the current measures are aimed at reducing human interference and promoting transparency and fairness.

He made the clarification at the Christ the King Church in Accra, where applicants for the Ghana Immigration Service are currently undergoing screening.

Speaking to journalists, Mr. Muntaka expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, describing it as orderly, respectful and consistent with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of treating citizens who volunteer to serve the nation with dignity.

According to him, the recruitment process remains the responsibility of the individual security services, stressing that the Ministry’s role is not to interfere but to ensure that established systems work efficiently without manipulation.

“Everything is handled by the various services. People are used to manipulating the system through human intervention. Now I am saying that let us all wash our hands off it, but some people cannot come to terms with the new order,” he stated.

The Interior Minister further noted that President Mahama is resolute about ensuring transparency in the recruitment process, especially given that applications far exceed the number of available slots.
