Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called on West African leaders to take decisive action against rising security threats in the region.
Speaking at the Joint Ministerial Meeting of the High-Level Consultative Conference on Regional Cooperation and Security, the Vice President emphasized the need for regional initiatives that prioritize implementation.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the interconnected nature of threats such as violent extremism, terrorism, and organized crime, which easily transcend national borders.
She stressed that prevention is a practical necessity, requiring strengthened collaboration and a robust regional framework to combat money laundering, terrorism financing, and weapons proliferation.
The Vice President urged leaders to enhance cross-border cooperation and rigorously implement international anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing standards.
She reiterated the importance of sustained political will and acting together to maintain stability at a lower cost.
