The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Ayawaso East Constituency, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, has firmly denied allegations of vote buying leveled against him during the party’s recent parliamentary primaries.

In a press release issued on Sunday, February 8, Mr. Jamal said his attention had been drawn to a communiqué from the Office of the President, signed by the Minister for Government Communication, recalling him from his position as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria over the alleged misconduct.

The statement referenced an earlier release by the NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, which condemned the allegations and called for a full investigation into the matter.

“I wish to state categorically that I, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, have not engaged in any vote buying or election malpractices,” he stressed, adding that he is ready to make himself available to assist the party in any investigations related to the issue.

Despite the development, Mr. Jamal expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to serve the nation as High Commissioner to Nigeria, describing it as an honour.

He also thanked party members in the Ayawaso East Constituency for the confidence reposed in him to lead the NDC into the upcoming parliamentary by-election scheduled for March 3, 2026.

Mr. Jamal emphasized his commitment to the party and its democratic values as preparations intensify ahead of the by-election.
