The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that its national elections will be held from September 18 to 20, 2026, following the completion of the party’s nomination and vetting processes.

The General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua made the announcement during a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra, providing a detailed timeline for the lead-up to the national polls.

According to Mr. Kodua, nominations will open from August 10 to August 14, with the filing of nominations scheduled between August 15 and 17, 2026.

Vetting of aspirants will take place from August 20 to 23, followed by the release of the vetting report on August 25.

Appeals will be considered from August 28 to 29, ahead of the September elections.

He outlined that the elections will be overseen by a structured committee system at both national and regional levels, ensuring transparency and adherence to the party’s internal rules.

Mr. Kodua also detailed the nomination fees for regional positions: GHC10,000 for Regional Chairpersons, GHC8,000 for Vice Chairpersons, and GHC5,000 for other positions.

Youth, women, and persons with disabilities are entitled to a 50% rebate on these fees.

To qualify for regional office, aspirants must be registered members in good standing, with a minimum of two years in the region, and must not have forfeited their membership.

Voting delegates will include members of regional and constituency executive committees, MPs, representatives of the National Council, and selected members of the Regional Council of Elders and patrons.

Mr. Kodua emphasized that a quorum of at least one-third of delegates is required for the regional conferences, ensuring legitimacy and fairness in the electoral process leading up to the national elections.
