President Mahama appoints Aaron Kanor as Acting Commissioner of Customs Division

The President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mr. Aaron Kanor as Acting Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The appointment, communicated in a letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama was made in accordance with Article 195 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 16 (1) of the Ghana Revenue Authority Act, 2009 (Act 791), as amended.

According to the letter, the appointment takes immediate effect, pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the Governing Board of the GRA, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

In his new role, Mr. Kanor will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Customs Division.

His mandate includes revenue mobilisation, trade facilitation, border security, anti-smuggling operations, and the enforcement of all customs laws and regulations.

He is expected to work under the supervision of the Commissioner-General of the GRA to strengthen institutional integrity, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure strict compliance with applicable laws and international best practices.

The President has expressed confidence that Mr. Kanor will discharge his duties with the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability, in line with government’s commitment to transparency, revenue assurance, and institutional reform.

Mr. Kanor has been requested to formally signify his acceptance of the appointment in writing within seven days of receiving the letter.
