NSA directs National Service Personnel in CLOSAG institutions to continue work amid strike

The National Service Authority (NSA) has directed all National Service Personnel (NSP) posted to institutions under the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana to continue reporting to work despite the ongoing industrial action declared by the association.

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana on Monday, March 9, 2026, declared a nationwide strike and directed its members across the Civil Service and Local Government Service to stay at home.

The industrial action follows prolonged concerns by the association over the government’s delay in implementing a unique salary structure and improved conditions of service for civil and local government workers.

In a statement issued and signed by the Director-General of the National Service Authority, Ruth Dela Seddoh on Thursday, March 12, the NSA clarified that National Service Personnel are not parties to the strike action undertaken by CLOSAG and are therefore expected to continue performing their assigned duties.

The Authority noted that the industrial action has disrupted operations in some institutions where National Service Personnel have been deployed.

However, management emphasised that NSPs are not members of CLOSAG and are not covered by the association’s strike.

The NSA therefore directed all National Service Personnel serving in institutions under CLOSAG to report to their respective places of posting and carry out their responsibilities as expected.

Management further urged the affected personnel to remain committed to their national duty and continue offering their services to support the institutions to which they have been assigned.

The Authority also expressed appreciation to National Service Personnel for their cooperation and dedication towards national development.
