President of PMI Ghana, Frank Owusu Asamoah

President of PMI Ghana, Frank Owusu Asamoah, addressed concerns about Artificial Intelligence and its impact on Project Management.

He noted that Artificial Intelligence is not a threat to project managers but rather a complementary tool that enhances efficiency and project delivery. According to him, project managers must position themselves as custodians of AI to ensure responsible and effective use of emerging technologies.

Mr. Frank Owusu Asamoah also revealed that PMI Ghana is engaging universities through Memoranda of Understanding to encourage students to register as members, describing project management as a lifelong skill relevant across industries.

He further emphasized the importance of time management, noting that it remains a key competency for professionals and students alike.

Speaking at the event, pioneering member of PMI Ghana, Reverend Moses Allison Tetteh, also emphasized that project management is rooted in systematic thinking, which he described as critical to national growth and sustainable development.

According to Rev. Tetteh, Ghana can save significant financial resources through the adoption of project management practices. He cited the growing number of uncompleted buildings across Accra as an example of poor planning and lack of systemic thinking.

“A lot of money can be saved through project management” he stated.

He further advised government institutions to adopt project management methodologies to ensure proper planning, accountability, and successful delivery of national projects.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, PMI Ghana announced a number of activities scheduled throughout the year:
• PM Olympics scheduled for July 4, 2026 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, bringing together professional bodies
• Project Management Excellence Awards and Conference from July 22–24, 2026 at The Peninsula Resort
• CEO Engagement Forum in October 2026, bringing together over 100 CEOs to explore how project management can help increase revenue and save costs
• Social Impact Initiative, including free health screening for vulnerable communities
• University Competition among partner universities
• End-of-Year Awards to conclude the anniversary celebrations

The launch marks a significant milestone for PMI Ghana as the organization continues to promote value-driven project management and strengthen Ghana’s development through structured planning and execution.
