The Ministry for Energy and Green Transition has directed all agencies under its supervision to submit detailed implementation roadmaps by April 15 as part of efforts to operationalise the government’s 24-hour economy policy.

Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Richard Gyan-Mensah, announced the directive during a media engagement at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the 24-Hour Economy Authority and the National Petroleum Authority.

The agreement is aimed at expanding round-the-clock operations within the downstream petroleum sector.

He revealed that the ministry has already issued formal communication to its agencies, requesting comprehensive plans outlining how they intend to transition into continuous operational models.

Richard Gyan-Mensah noted that some agencies have made considerable progress, with entities such as the Tema Oil Refinery and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company already advancing internal strategies. Other agencies, he said, are at different stages of preparation.

He explained that the April 15 deadline will enable the ministry to assess the level of readiness across the sector and identify any gaps that need to be addressed.

The Deputy Minister added that the successful implementation of a 24-hour economy in the energy sector has the potential to create significant employment opportunities, both directly and indirectly.
