Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) has officially partnered with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as the official bank of the Black Stars and the country’s football ecosystem.

Present at the signing ceremony were GFA Vice-President Mark Addo, Frederick Acheampong, Samuel Aboabiri, and other executive members of the association.

Speaking at the event, UMB’s Group Head of Personal and Business Banking, Asabea Kissi Boateng, said the bank decided to partner with the GFA to help Ghanaian footballers develop sound saving habits and financial management skills for life after their playing careers.

She explained that the partnership extends beyond the Black Stars and is intended to benefit players across all levels of Ghana football.

GFA Vice-President Mark Addo described the partnership as an exciting development for the association, particularly because of its emphasis on financial literacy for players.

The Chief Executive Officer of UMB, Dr. Phillip Oti Mensah, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting Ghana football. He noted that UMB is one of Ghana’s oldest banks and highlighted its customer-friendly banking system, which allows individuals to open accounts without making initial deposits.

Dr. Oti Mensah stated that the bank aims to become one of the top five banks in Ghana by 2030 and intends to grow alongside Ghana football. He added that the partnership would also help increase public awareness of the bank while creating a lasting impact within the football community.
