The Accra Basketball League 2026 season made a strong return on Tuesday, June 9, at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, as Week 7 fixtures were played across Division 2, Division 1, and the Women’s Division.
The league had been on a temporary break following the unfortunate medical incident that led to the passing of Michael Arhin, a player of Coldstore, on May 20. After consultations with stakeholders, competition resumed in his honour with exciting games across all divisions.
Action in Division 2 produced tightly contested encounters. Burma Camp Kings edged Dunk Grassroots 55–53, while Ghana Immigration delivered an emphatic 83–60 victory over Tesano Youth. In the final Division 2 fixture, Titans overcame Gbawe Basketball Academy 69–61.
In Men’s Division 1, Magic secured a 52–39 win over the University of Ghana, with Samad Nurudeen earning Player of the Game after recording 12 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 assist.
Defending champions Knights showed their class with a dominant 87–54 win against Reformers. Treasure Botchway starred with 16 points, 3 steals, and 1 assist to claim Player of the Game.
Tusk also impressed with a 73–56 victory over Navy, as Abubakari Suleman was player of the Game with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
In an all-service clash, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) edged the Air Force 65–62 in a tense encounter. Horsoo Jeremiah led the way with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 1 steal.
The Women’s Division opened with an all-civilian clash, where Galaxy defeated Aces 52–40. Reformers followed with a solid 60–39 win over Army, powered by Promise Ofori’s 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Navy also recorded a 50–41 victory against Police, with Tsra Esther contributing 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Defending champions GRA recorded the biggest win of the day, overwhelming Braves 88–16. Braves’ Hannah Amoako was outstanding and earned Player of the Game with 17 points, 9 rebounds, 10 steals, and 6 assists.
League officials have informed stakeholders that management of Coldstore has requested that all their matches remain on hold until the final funeral rites of Michael Arhin, scheduled for June 27, 2026.
