Liberty Pros seek league survival after shattered top 4 dream- Arkson

We have shifted our focus of playing in the top four to surviving the relegation scare, according to Liberty Professionals’ Gerald Arkson.

The Dansoman- based club started the season on a high with some magnificent displays, but since turn of the second round, the club’s form has drastically plummeted and is now facing the possibility of being relegated to Division One for the first time in their history.

And just last week, it was alleged that management of the club has failed to honour four months salaries to players, which many keen advocates of the Ghana league believes has been the bane of the club’s poor showing this season.

However, dynamic midfielder of the club, Gerald Arkson has assured supporters of the club that they their focus has now shifted to maintaining their Premiership status after their ambition of finishing in the top four became a mirage.

And speaking ahead of their crunch tie against fellow maligned side Inter Allies, Gerald stated; “Our second round performance has been way below our level. Each and every one of us is worried because when you compare what we did in the first round to this particular round, I think we’ve under-performed massively,” he told Happy FM.

“However, as we’ve realized that the possibility of playing in the top four is no more, we have shifted our focus and strength on finishing the season in safe position so as next season we can prepare better to achieve that aim. We’re yet to fathom the reason why our performance in the second round has taken a nose dive, but like I said, there’s no crying over spilt milk and therefore we’re going to try and end the season well to come back stronger next season.”

Liberty Professionals will hope to avoid defeat in their Week 29 encounter at the Tema sports stadium against Inter Allies, who lie just underneath them on the GPL league log with two matches to finish.
