Akufo-Addo willing to legalize homosexuality – Inusah Fuseini

President Akufo-Addo as he indicated could be willing to legalize homosexuality in Ghana, private legal practitioner and National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmaker for Tamale Central, Hon. Inusah Fuseini has said.
“I understand him to say that he is tolerant to homosexuality, he may be willing to support the forces that will bring about the change”, Hon. Inusah Fusieni stated.
According to the outspoken lawmaker, if Nana Akufo-Addo remains President and a stronger coalition is formed to push for legalization of homosexuality in the country, the President will support it.
Speaking to Aljazeera’s Jane Dutton the President said the country’s culture and tradition for now does not allow the legalization of homosexuality but was quick to add that if public opinion changes, the law may just be amended.
“This is a social, cultural issue, I don’t believe that in Ghana so far, a sufficiently strong coalition has emerged which is having that impact on public opinion that will say ‘change it, let’s now have a new paradigm in Ghana”, Nana Akufo-Addo added.
Speaking to the development on Multi TV weekly news analysis program Newsfile Saturday, the outspoken legal practitioner cum lawmaker believes the President supports homosexuality.
“He thinks that they are statistically insignificant now and as they continue to grow stronger he is available because even in London where it was affront it is now happening”, Hon. Innusah Fusieni believes.
“As human beings continue to live, the President thinks they may grow stronger that is why he said it is bound to happen”, Hon. Inusah Fusieni added during the panel discussion.
General Secretary of Christian Council, Rev Dr Kwabena Opuni Frimpong fears that if pressure is piled on government by advocates of homosexuality, it may cause a change in the law and the legalization of homosexuality.
Pressure is, however, mounting on the President following an indication given the country’s position on homosexuality act could change if there is strong advocacy.
