Gospel musician Sonie Badu through his charity organization the Badu Foundation has adopted the Chosen Children Centre, an orphanage at Darkuman.
The centre located in the heart of Accra has a population of 65 children from different parts across the country.
The centre was established in 2008 by Apostle Cobi and Abena Washington to help change the lives of the under-privileged in the society.
The adoption of the centre came to light when members of the foundation as part of the yuletide spent a day with the children at the centre.
The team also presented an undisclosed amount of money to the management of the centre as well as some assorted items including detergents, crates of eggs, bags of Rice, Gari, milk, toiletries, bottle water, biscuits and packets of mackerel among others.
The gospel musician joined by her mother Mrs. Julian Agyemang in presenting the items to the Managing Director of the centre, Mrs. Gertrude Mensa-Bonsu said the purpose of the presentation is to let the children have a feel Christmas ahead of Christmas.
According to him, he has been doing this for the past twenty years to assist the poor and the needy in the society.
He announced that the foundation will adopt the centre and supply it with all its needs coming next year January.
He said per the adopting agreement every month the needs of the centre will be taken care of by the foundation.
According to him, the foundation has partners in the United States of America who will assist in the education and medical needs of the children.
He expressed concerns about the kind of rooms the children sleep in and assured management that come next year the living conditions of the children will be expanded to bring some relieves to the children.
He was of the view that the foundation which has been vigorous with its activities is determined to bring life to the lifeless.
In expressing gratitude to the foundation, Mrs Mensa-Bonsu said the presentation has come at an opportune time as it has not been easy looking after the children.
She explained that in spite of the difficulties the management has been able soldier on because of the calling to put a smile of the less privilege.
