Dr. Steve Manteau;  the Campaign Coordinator  of Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC) has prevailed on the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appoint ex-National Democratic Congress’ Minister for Justice and Attorney-General as the head of the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) to help fight the corruption that has become a drain on the national development.
According to the campaign coordinator of the civil society group, the former NDC minister for Justice  popularly known as ‘Citizen Vigilante’ Martin Alamisi Amidu deserves the position of the head of the OSP in dealing with  the corruption in the country.
Dr. Manteau made this appeal to the president on Accra-based United Television (UTV) morning show to discuss the year in retrospective.
He said Mr. Amidu Amidu stands upright to deal with the numerous issues of corruption that  is eating away the country’s development.
He said when the then governing NDC wanted their colleague politicians in the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) jailed for causing financial loss to the state for political reasons, he stood his ground and told his party functionaries that there corrupt officers in the party  that must also be dealt with before’.
He mentioned the spirited fight the Wayome 51 million Ghana Cedis loot among one of the cardinal points of Mr. Amidu for the position.
‘This  is a gentleman who can the job to bring some reprieve to all well-meaning Ghanaians who are  yearning that the huge sums of money that passes under the drain are redirected to the development of the state he said.
He further noted that of all people being bandied about to lead the OSP are all competent and can do the job as demanded of them.
He mentioned the two as Mr. Amidu and Akoto Ampaw.
