A Tamale-based radio presenter has been arrested by personnel of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service for rape.
Akumbita Jacob is alleged to have raped the victim who is a married woman (name withheld) in the studios of a local radio station he works for within the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region.
Popularly known as Dj Razzle, it is gathered that the victim visited the station to transact business but only met the said presenter who was said to be on duty and therefore invited her into the studio.
They reportedly struck some acquaintance and into the process the suspect tried touching the victim in a rather an uncompromising way which she resisted.
Determined to unleash his unbridled libido on the unprovoked guest, DJ Razzle overpowered and had carnal knowledge of the married woman.
An official complaint was lodged with the DOVVSU in Tamale leading to the arrest of the suspect on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
Police confirmed the incident to mynewsg.com but declined further comment indicating that the matter was still under investigation.
Meanwhile, there are indications some persons believed to be colleague workers of the radio station where the incident happened reportedly conspired in the act and could also be invited by the police to assist in investigations.
As at Wednesday evening, the suspect had not been granted bail as he was spotted earlier writing his caution statement.
