The Deputy National Organizer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Joshua Akamba, has indicated that he is least surprised about the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police decision to arrest the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC.
According to him, Koku Anyidoho’s claims on an Accra –based radio station about civil unrest is nothing to warrant his arrest by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said the arrest is just a mere show of power and to intimidate the supporters of the party.
Mr. Akamba made this statement on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show on Happy FM in reaction to police arrest of the Deputy General of the main opposition party.
He said some elements in the NPP are bent on seeing some key members of the NDC intimidated over the much-publicized demonstration over the US military deal.
He claimed this is just show of power because, ‘before left the studios of Accra –based Happy FM; had picked signals from the aspiring First Vice Chairman of the NPP, Omari Wadie who was also on the show that the NDC’s Deputy General Secretary will be pick-up today.
‘I am not surprised Koku Anyihodo has been arrested today because some elements in the NPP want to find a way to put the fear of God in him’.
He added that these are part of the measures device by the governing NPP to intimidate the NDC in opposition.
But, I can assure them this will not tickle the NDC after successfully handing over power to the NPP led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo he explained.
