Henry Jay's signing was part of the reasons I resigned- Yaw Preko

Yaw Preko has disclosed that one of the factors that forced him resign from Accra Hearts of Oak is the signing of Henry Jay Lamptey.

As the interim coach of the team, Yaw Preko says he believed they should have consulted him when recruiting players, but in the signing of Henry Jay Lamptey he was completely sidelined which made him feel useless and therefore had no option than to abandon the team before people point fingers at him when things start going bad in mid-season.

“When we finished the season, I went to refresher course before we set off for the upcoming season but before that I penciled down a list of players I would need for the upcoming campaign. I sat down with management and went through the list and agreed on those we can get and those we cannot get them,” aggrieved Yaw Preko said.

“However, I told them to try and get as much as they can to get many of the targets. We analyzed the positions that needed to beef up and also that we’ll release and the ones to stay, and we agreed on the number of players we’ll need but all of a sudden, the club has gone behind my back to sign this player [Henry Lamptey] without my knowledge.

He continued, “what got me pissed is when I went to the office they were with the boy and I was asked to wait in the next office. I was sitting in the corridor when the boy came and passed. That whole scenario made me feel embarrassed and that’s where I got to know that I wasn’t part of the Hearts of Oak family. I asked them about the boy’s singing but they told me that’s the least we could get and I understood perfectly what they wanted to tell me but I was also not ready to fail when the season gets underway so I had to take a decision.”
