Rev. Adesah has failed amputee football – Bishop Adjah Coffie

The President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), Bishop Adjah Coffie has expressed his displeasure and disappointment about the former leadership of Ghana Amputee Football headed by Rev. Richard Nii Amartey Adesah.
He made this assertion on last Wednesday, when a group of media men visited his office at Adabraka in Accra.
The mandate given to the Adesah-led administration was to organize a league for amputee football teams in Ghana and to develop the sport.
Bishop Adjah Coffie confirmed that the tenure of Rev. Adesah’s administration expired late last year, without them being able to execute the mandate given to them. He mentioned the issue of bad leadership which has created a debt of about US$50,000 (fifty thousand dollars). He further noted that he had just recently received a report from Rev. Adesah about his tenure in office.
Bishop Adjah Coffie explained that 2018 is a major event year for amputee football at the world level and the NPC is yet to decide on a replacement for Rev. Adesah.
He emphasized that amputee football, if well organized has the capacity to engage and employ many amputated persons thus ensuring a source of livelihood for them.
On the other hand, the National Sports Authority has mandated the newly appointed Ghana Amputee Football League Board (GAFLB) to organize a league for amputee football teams, as well as identify and select players to form the national team to represent Ghana in 2018.
The highly anticipated Amputee League is due to kick off on Saturday, May 5.
