Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye has urged the Black Princesses to make the proud in the U-20 World Cup in Papua New Guinea.

The Black Princesses of Ghana were drawn in arguably the Group of Death that comprises of France, New Zealand and USA in Group C of the upcoming U-20 World Cup in Papua New Guinea.

And as the team embarks on the trip to Papua Guinea, Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye has echoed his belief in the team and urged them to replicate the exploits of the Black Maidens in the just ended U-17 World Cup in Jordan where upon the negativity aura that surrounded the team, they managed to reach the quarter final stage losing to eventual winners Korea DPR.

Nii Lante was speaking at the Airport when he welcomed the arrival of the victorious weightlifting team that won laurels at the just ended Commonwealth Championship in India, “I believe in the them. They’ve prepared well ahead of the tournament and the only thing left now is continue the good work when they travel to their camping base in Cannes. I hope that they focus on the task at hand and I urged them that the little the country has done will spurn them on to greater things in the tournament.”

“Someone will use the Black Maidens as a yardstick for this team and me for instance, I will say their performance in the tournament got me wondering even with the difficulties they faced.”

“I will entreat the Black Princesses to surpass their achievement by reaching the finals and maybe win bring the cup home. I will plead with them to focus on the task ahead and nothing else.”

The U-20 World Cup is scheduled to take off 13th December with Ghana playing Oceania champions New Zealand in the first match on 14th December.
