"Iranian Pro League is far ahead of the Ghana League" – Samuel Sarfo

Ghana defender Samuel Sarfo has expressed his belief that the Iranian top flight league is ahead of the Zylofon Cash Premier League.

Sarfo joined Saipa FC on an 18-month deal from Ghanaian top flight outfit Liberty Professionals at the start of the campaign.

The 27-year-old was the top scoring defender in the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League with 7 goals in 26 appearances.
In an exclusive interview with Happy FM‘s Mac-Paradise Okocha, Sarfo was asked the difference between the Ghanaian top flight league and the Pro Iranian Persia Gulf League.
“There are so many factors that goes into it when comparing the Ghana Premier League and the Pro Persian Gulf League because infrastructure-wise and the kind of sponsorship that goes into the Iranian league is much bigger than the Ghana league,” Sarfo told Happy FM.
“However, when you’re looking at it from talent-wise, I can say the Ghana league is far ahead but we don’t know how to manage them. But for Iran to have qualified for Russia 2018 World Cup should tell you where their football has gotten to, so I think on the whole they are ahead of us.”
Sarfo played seven games in 10 games for Saipa FC as they finished 4th on the standings.
He was an influential member of the Black Stars B side that won the 2017 WAFU Nations Cup
Following his impressive season with Liberty Professionals, the hard-tackling guardsman emerged as one of the few locally-based player who were handed their maiden call ups into the Black Stars by Coach Kwesi Appiah and had his debut for Ghana against the USA in a friendly.
