Former Chairman of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) Moses Foh Amoaning, has entreated president of the Association, Mr Peter Zwennes to crack the whip on Braimah Kamoko and Michael Ayitey for displaying unprofessional conducts in recent times.
Reports last month indicated a Circuit Court had issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Braimah Kamoko popularly known as “Bukom Banku,” for failing to appear before it.
The boxer was reported to have been facing charges of assault, causing damage and two counts of causing harm but failed to show up at court when the case was called on Tuesday, April 17, together with five others, four of whom were at large.
Michael Ayitey, who is widely known in the boxing fraternity as Ayitey Powers, was also reported to have been in Police custody for defrauding three people, one of whom was a former Accra Hearts of Oak player, Eugene Addo earlier this month.
The 37-year-old boxer was is in a police cell at the James Town Police Station following his arrest.
Speaking to Ohene Bampoe-Brenya on Happy FM‘s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Mr Amoaning implored the boxing association to clamp down on the two boxers as he believes could their reported actions can be negatively affect sponsor interest for boxing.
“The GBA is governed by rules and regulations. The way some of these boxers are behaving violate the rules and regulations of the association. Image is very critical when securing sponsorship so we need to call those going wayward to order”. Mr Amoaning stated on Happy FM.
“On the ability of the current GBA president , Mr. Peter Zwenes to call the boxers to order, Mr. Foh Amoaning said that he knows the GBA president very well and believes that won’t be difficult for the president to crack the whip.”
He called for assistance and advice for Braimah Kamako and said, “Banku Bukom needs help. The people around him should help him because he needs it.”
