NDC MP Isaac Adongo insists NPP are behind fake Ghana cards

Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has accused the government of desperately using illegal means to forcibly get people to register for the Ghana Card.
This comes after social media was flooded with pictures of some fake cards supposedly belonging to some National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs.
Among those with the said IDs are Minority Chief Whip Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, Juaboso MP Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Builsa North MP James Agalga and Bolgatanga Central MP Isaac Adongo.
But Mr Adongo says the faking of the cards “shows the desperation and the intended fraudulent behaviour they want to put up with this Ghana Card. Even at this stage, they are able to fraudulently manufacture Ghana Card for people who have not registered and that is the reason we must fight it at all cost”.
He told Class 91.3FM on Saturday, 16 June 2018 that the image on the card is a photo of him taken around January 2017, as part of his parliamentary records and used on several occasions by the media for publications.
“This shirt is over one year old and I do not even know where it is, let alone wear it to parliament at this point in time”, he said.
Mr Adongo said the originators of the fake cards have manufactured a wrong date of birth for him.
“It is public record, you can check everywhere that I was born 12th of October 1972 and they are speaking in respect of 1974. I don’t know where they got that,” he stressed.
He said it was unfortunate that the authorities will embark on such a move when the people involved have not participated in any registration in order to acquire the cards.
The Minority has rejected the process because only birth certificates and passports are being used.
A statement signed by Minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu, said: “We remain opposed to the restriction of identification requirements for registration to Passports and Birth Certificates. Our analysis show that this will prevent about 23 million Ghanaians from obtaining the Ghana Card and deprive them of any benefit thereof.”
