The member of Parliament for Tamale Central Hon. Inusah Fusieni has announced he will step down as a legislature when the tenure of the current Parliament expires in 2020.
Hon. Inusah Fuseini made this revelation on Saturday afternoon in Tamale during a meeting with the newly elected Tamale Central NDC executives at the Aliu Mahama Sports stadium.
According to the 56-year old Lawyer, his decision not contest again is to pave way for others to continue from where he left off.
The decision by the MP however has been rejected by the party executives, asking him to allow them have a meeting on that to see “if it is in the best interest of the party”.
The executives said they will communicate to him after their meeting as the announcement has come to them “too sudden”.
Hon. Inusah Fuseini became MP for the area after winning a by-election following the resignation of then MP Dr. Wayo seini in 2005.
He was the the former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources in the Ghana government and serves as ranking member for Trade, Industry and Tourism Committee in the current parliament.
He also serves as ranking member for the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee and doubles as the Minority Spokesperson on Constitutional, Parliamentary and Legal Affairs.
