Double track policy will be a disaster – Ricketts Hagan

Former Deputy Finance Minister, George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, says elections are not won on legacies but the promise of a better future.

When asked if he will campaign on Ex-President Mahamas legacy, he answered saying ‘’ Nana Addo did not campaign on Kuffour’s legacy but on what he can do when elected, though most of his promises turned out to be lies.”
Speaking on ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ on Happy FM to Kwame Afrifa Mensah, he also said ‘’Mahama in terms of infrastructure did so well but Governance is more than in infrastructure.’’
The Cape Coast South MP, Ricketts-Hagan who was also Deputy Trades Minister and later became Central Regional Minister said, Mahama is best placed to become a statesman as former Presidents, Kufuor and Rawlings.

Some pro-Mahama forces say the immediate former president who left office after only one-term, has unfinished business and needs another shot at the presidency.

But the former Central Regional Minister says suggestions that President Mahama has “unfinished business” is alien to politics.

“There is nothing like unfinished business by any one individual in governing a democratic nation. In fact, there is nothing to finish if you believe in democracy,” he maintained.

However, the former Minister’s ambition is seen by many as a long shot. But Ricketts-Hagan, an investment banker, believes a fight to lead the NDC is a risk he is prepared to take.
