Passion drives me to do music, not money – Maame Serwaah

UK based Ghanaian gospel artiste Maame Serwaah says even though she does not make money from music, that is what gives her a sense of peace and fulfillment.

On e.TV Ghana’s entertainment talk show ‘The Late Nite Celebrity Show’, she told the host, Foster Romanus that her decision to do music was not due to a revelation from God through a dream or a prophet like it is for other gospel musicians, but it was out of pure passion.

“For me it was the passion for music that drove me to that area, yes I did study, I did work, I did other things but the music or singing was what gave me the satisfaction and the inner peace to do it even if I don’t get paid for it, which is what happens most times.

There’s this sense of peace of mind within, I feel fulfilled, so if I sit here and say God revealed in a dream or spoke through a prophet, I would be lying to you,” she said.

“So it’s just driven by the passion and I feel comfortable doing this.

Even if I don’t get paid, I don’t mind singing from morning till evening so that’s where I drew my energy to and by God’s grace its working,” she added.

According to her even without earnings from her music, she has helped twelve other gospel musicians come out with their own individual albums.

“I do have two have two albums to my credit but I’ve been able to help about 12 gospel singers come out with their album,” she revealed,” she revealed.

Maame Serwaah launched her new album titled ‘The Garment of Praise’ over the weekend and pledged to donate all her proceeds from the launch to the Akropong school for the blind.
