Prof. Joshua Alabi is expected to pick up his nomination forms at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party headquarters today despite a petition to the party Council of Elders to reduce the filing fee.

The petition to the NDC Council of Elders by 8 of the Presidential aspirants is yet to receive response making it unknown if there’ll be a change in the GH¢420,000 being charged for the nomination and filing fees.

“I’ve had a lot of calls and the advise to me is to pick up the forms and continue with the fight for the reduction of the GHC400,000. I believe that I should really tune myself as an aspirant by picking the form and fight really see to the reduction of the GHC400,000,” Alabi said in an interview.

Barring any last minute changes the two-day window for aspirants to pick the forms will close today with only ex-President John Mahama picked his forms.

Former president John Dramani Mahama on Monday, 3 November 2018, picked a nomination form to contest as the flagbearer NDC.

Some executives from the Asawase Constituency of the NDC picked the forms on behalf of Mr Mahama at the party’s headquarters in Accra.

The nomination forms is being sold for GH¢20,000.

The filing fee has been pegged at GH¢400,000.

The NDC’s presidential primary is slated for 19 January 2019.
