Chief Executive Officer, of Techiman Eleven Wonders, Takyi Arhin, popularly known as Thunder, has disclosed that members of the Normalization Committee (NC) are not competent enough to run the affairs of the GFA after reports from the media landscape suggested that the Normalization Committee were planning to seek for an extension of 5 more months when their tenure of office ends on March 31.

Speaking to Ohene Bampoe–Brenya on Happy FM’s ‘Anopa Bosuo Sports’, the outspoken football administrator said he has no confidence in the Normalization Committee judging from their work done so far.

“I am not against extension of the Normalization committee but these current members must leave for new members to take over. Yesterday when I read that the Normalization committee wants an extension, I took it as a comic relief. My 18-years-old son can do this work of the Normalization Committee within two months. They have shown that they can’t even do the job so they must leave .The future of Ghana football is a catastrophe with this Normalization committee,” he stated.

In September 2018, FIFA constituted the Normalization Committee to replace the defunct Ghana Football Association’s Executive Committee. The move was seen by many as a ‘new beginning’ in the country’s football governance.

The main mandate of the normalization committee are the following:

  • To run the GFA’s daily affairs and cooperate with the special task force once it has been set up by FIFA, CAF and the Government of Ghana;
  • To review the GFA statutes to ensure compliance with the requirements of FIFA and CAF, particularly art. 15 of the FIFA Statutes, and;
  • Once the GFA statutes meet the requirements of FIFA and CAF, to organize and conduct elections of a GFA executive committee on the basis of the revised GFA statutes.
