I rejected mouth-watering offers to drop the Dreams FC case- Osei Palmer

President of Tema Youth, Wilfred Osei Palmer has disclosed that he rejected juicy offers to pursue his case against Dreams FC for fielding an unqualified player when both side met in the 2014/2015 Division One League.

Osei Palmer, who is also an Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association has expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the long standing legal tussle which involved his club Tema Youth FC.

The Appeals Committee were mandated by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to review its decision after Tema Youth petitioned them on the the verdict of the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association and Palmer has intimated that he had several juicy offers to discontinue his pursuit of the case but he didn’t succumb because he wanted the game to be sanitized.

“I was approached with some mouth-watering offers to discontinue my pursuit of the Dreams FC case but I didn’t fall for that because I wanted to prove to the whole world that I had a good case. I must say emphatically that those who approached me are not from the GFA. I spent about $50,000 in the pursuit of this case so I wouldn’t have done that if I knew I didn’t have a good case.” Palmer told Happy FM.

The Appeals Committee finally ruled on Wednesday that Dreams FC’s Cudjoe Mensah, was unqualified to play in the match between TEMA YOUTH and DREAMS and the latter must be held liable for the irregular registration of the player.

Tema Youth have been declared victors in the case regarding the eligibility of Dreams FC’s Cudjoe Mensah who featured in the clash between the two sides.

According to Palmer on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo sports, he says he’s delighted to have been declared winner.
“I’m very much happy now because the journey that we started that nobody gave us a chance, a journey that we started that all sorts of insinuations were cast on my very person as Wilfred Osei and that of my club that were express to even my financial capacity, but when God is in control, you don’t need a lot of resources,” says Osei Palmer.

“I’m very grateful that the players, the technical team and the club to have imposed confidence in me. I showed and demonstrated leadership at that level that irrespective of difficulties in the system, I was able to hold the fort. In the face of financial difficulties, the money to pay for the CAS filing and even to still compete in the league, that it was very difficult to operate.

“Last year by this time, I had given up hope but I something told that, at the end of the tunnel my light will shine.”
