Samuel Nartey George, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo Prampram, has explained why he decided to keep shell casings of the bullets fired at him during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections.

Sam George was a victim in the violence that nearly marred the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election on January 31, 2019.

According to him, he did not trust the police with such sensitive evidence because they stood reserved while he was being assaulted.

The MP explained that, the shell casings were “picked on the spot on the day and brought to me.”

When asked by Justice Emile Short why he did not handover such evidence to the police when he was invited by the Police CID, he said he did not trust them.

However, Sam George said he tendered the bullet shell casings to the Commission with the hope that it “will help in the service of justice.”

Sam George on Monday February 25, 2019 presented 29 shell casings and one live round of which he claims were from the scene of the shooting when he took his turn before the Emile Short Commission investigating the violence during the by-elections.
