Ishmael Arthur, Ramatu Abdullai crowned winners of 2019 Asante Akyem Marathon Challenge

Ishmael Arthur won the third edition of the Asante Akyem Marathon Challenge 2019 held on Easter Monday . The annual event which was organized by sports marketing and promotion firm, SportsLife, -own by National Sports Authority board chairman, Hon Kwadwo Baah Agyemang- is aimed at discovering and nurturing talents across the country and beyond.

The 42-kilometers race had over 300 participants across the country.

The race took place within the Agogo township in the Asante Akyem District.

It started at Agogo State Secondary School and ended at the Agogo Lorry Park.

Ishmael finished first in the men’s race with a time of 2:49:06, relegating last year’s winner,Kudanu John, to second place and Richard Kwaitoo for third place.

In the women’s race,15-year-old Abdulai Ramatu from the Upper West Region emerged winner with a time of 2:20:11. Titi Rosina came second whiles Amanda Kotambe came third.
In the Junior race, Abu Nuri Seth was crowned the winner with Nkansah Deborah placing second, while Diana Antwiwaa came third.

The last two editions of the marathon that seeks to provide a platform for unearthing and nurturing talented long distance runners, has enjoyed incredible patronage with athletes from all parts of the country.
The event was in partnership with the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), National Sports Authority (NSA), the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

17-year-old William Amponsah emerged winner of the maiden edition and as part of his prize, he participated in the 2018 Dubai Marathon.
