Stonebwoy lacks emotional stability to own a gun- Kwame Sefa Kayi
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

Kwame Sefa Kayi, Host of the just ended 20th edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, has said that Dancehall artist Stonebwoy is not mature and fit enough to have the permit to hold a gun.

His assertion comes on the back of the altercation between some members of the Shatta Movement (SM), the fan group aligned to Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy’s fans, who are known as the BHIM Natives, at the just ended VGMA which led to Stonebwoy pulling a gun on the stage to the dismay of patrons in the auditorium and at home.

In an interview, Sefa Kayi said,Stonebwoy lacks the “emotional stability” to be called a gun owner.
“They said Stonebwoy’s gun is a licensed gun. The police should revoke his license because this is not the first time he has pulled his gun in crowd. The police should revoke his license or his permit for carrying a gun. He doesn’t have the emotional stability or balance to be called a gun owner.”

There have been reports that Stonebwoy was handed the gun by a member of his security team. Following that, some section of Ghanaians have blamed the organisers of the event, saying they could have beefed up security apparatus and that there were some security lapses.

But reacting to the security issues on Happy FM’s Epa Hoa Daben, the Head of Communications and Public Events at Charterhouse, George Quaye said Ghanaians should not blamed the organizers of the event because the security they placed on ground was unprecedented.

“I don’t think Charterhouse should be blamed for what has happened because for the first time we placed over 85 security men on grounds.”

He added that, “In every security apparatus no matter how strong it is, at a point in time it can be breached.”

Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale have a long-standing rivalry, fueled by their respective fan armies, over who is the best in the Reggae/Dancehall field.

Concerns have been raised over the tensions the rivalry has been creating with stakeholders fearing it could boil over into something very serious and Saturday night’s incident seems to give credence to those concerns.
