Fame is eating up our musicians’ brains – Doctar Cann

Ace broadcaster, Francis Cann, know in the media fraternity as ‘Doctar Cann’ has said that most artistes in the Ghanaian music industry are clueless when it comes to handling fame.

According to Doctar Cann, he knew most of these artistes who are currently in the main stream when they were just underground artists.

He also asserted that, as underground artistes, they had good manners as compared to when they reached the peak of their careers.

Doctar Cann made these revelation on his ‘Showbiz Xtra’ show on Happy FM.

“The way and manner fame is eating up our Ghanaian musicians’ brains is unimaginable. Most of the artistes in our music industry behave the way they do because fame is eating up their brains,” Doctar Cann said.

The ace entertainment broadcaster also opined that, “sometimes these artistes see some of us radio presenters and they pretend not to have seen you. Meanwhile he or she knew you from the beginning of their career. Most of these new crop of artistes are fond of doing that. Some will start to play with their phones when they see you.”

Doctar Cann’s comments come on the back of the brawl between Dancehall artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale which nearly marred the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Award (VGMA) which was held recently.

He however admitted that fame is not easy to handle but they – the two musicians-can do better.

Doctar Cann beat the likes of Akwasi Aboagye, Blakk Rasta, Kofi Kum Bilson, Afua Pokuaa and Abeiku Santana among others to emerge winner as the Greater Accra ‘Radio Personality of the year’ at the Foklex Media Awards which took place in April at the National Theatre in Accra.
