2019 edition of Dr. Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu Ramadan Cup Launched

The 5th edition of the annual Dr. Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup was launched at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Accra on Thursday May 29 2019.

The launch was also used to conduct the draw and the fixtures for the competition.

The competition which seeks to celebrate and honor the National Chief Imam will bring
sixteen Zongo communities to battle for the Ramadan giant trophy and bragging right.

The program was chaired by Abu-Bakar Saddique Boniface, Minister of State at the Office of the Vice President ; Black Stars Coach Kwesi Appah; Ibrahim Tanko, Black Stars assistant coach; Mas-Ud Didi Dramani; President of Tema Youth, Winful Osei Kweku Palmer; Representatives from the Office of the Chief Imam as well as the various sponsors of the competition.

The competition is scheduled to take place on June 8, 2019 with the venue yet to be confirmed.The following communities will battle each other for victory; Alajo vs Tudu, Kasoa vs Nima, Madina vs Nungua Zongo, Tunga vs New Town, Darkuman vs Nsawam Zongo, Ashaiman vs Ashaley Botwe, Fadama vs Maamobi and Ashaiman vs Sabon Zongo.

The competition started in 2015 with eight zongo communities but was increased to twelve in the second edition while the last two elections saw an increase to sixteen, a number which has been maintained for this year.
